On the PGA golf tour this season, Tiger Woods has had the worst year of his career, and on Thursday, he attempted to start turning around his fortunes. Woods started strong at the Barclays golf tournament this weekend, fresh off his divorce to Elin Nordegren.

With a score of -6, the number one player in the world completed the first round. On Thursday, he shot the sixty-five and has him in a tie for the lead, somewhere he has not been often this year. With his divorce finalized, analysts have already begun their analysis that Woods may now be more focused.

Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz said, “With everything that he (Woods) has been through in his personal life in the past year, it was expected that there would be some drop off in his level of play. As his life starts getting back to normal and his focus again turns to golf, we should see more scores like the one Woods posted today.”

To convince skeptics that the world’s best golfer is back, it will take more than one round. He would solidify his position on the US Ryder Cup team, if Woods goes on to win the Barclays and he also would swing odds makers back in his direction when it comes to determining future betting odds.

On the betting list week, Woods has remained near the top of the choices after week this season despite his poor showings. By betting on Woods, gamblers who have in the past feasted on sports books are now suffering along with the best golfer of a generation.

Last November, Woods ran his SUV into a tree on Thanksgiving night and he was surging towards Jack Nicklaus’ major titles record. Since then, for his continuous infidelity, Woods has been outed, and he has been a shell of his former self on the golf course.

Las Vegas is by far the Mecca, when it comes to casinos and gambling. With the hopes of hitting it big and soaking up all of its vices, people from all over the world ascend to Sin City. By 2012, now comes word that Singapore could rival or even top the Vegas Strip. It seems that travelers that are more international are opting to stay closer to home and it is Singapore that offers the same vices, especially for the ones from the Far East.

Developers are looking to upgrade accommodations and looking to expand and make services better, due to a huge increase of patrons and better than usual earnings by one of the two casinos in the city-state of Singapore, say the industry insiders. In Singapore, Genting Singapore is the top casino developer and they are stating that their Resorts World Sentosa showed very huge earnings during the second quarter.

For the second quarter, Genting Singapore claims that they have done nearly $1 Billion dollars in sales, the first in which statistics have been available. In February, Resorts World Sentosa opened and it was built at a cost of $4.4 Billion dollars. Anywhere from 75 to 90 percent of this revenue came from gambling, say the analysts.

Las Vegas Corps is the other casino in Singapore is Marina Bay Sands, which opened in April. Over $4 Billion Singapore, dollars have been garnered by both the casinos combined, since February.

For the kids to return to school and for parents to actually have some time for themselves, Bingo Cove will soon launch, in perfect time.

Bingo Cove is powered by Dragonfish, allowing Bingo players to experience a superior online game experience and it is expected to be fully functional by September. The internet rumors are flying and the anticipation of when the site goes live is building around the web, though there is a holding page when you visit the site right now.

There will be your typical 90 and 75 ball standard UK bingo games as well as bingo bonuses, slots and promotions. Than your typical bingo site, Bingo Cove is promoting its site as different because along with their gaming, they will provide a true visual experience.

A way to make you reminisce about your summer holiday, the site is said to be set in island fashion. A chance to submerge will be provided to the player in a true “get away” fashion, while gaming from their home. There are many bingo sites already live on the Internet and the stakes are high. However, to encourage a following right from the minute they goes live, Bingo Cove is set to be different enough.

Right-hander Brad Penny of St. Louis Cardinals is optimistic that he will pitch again this season, although he is not sure when exactly he will get the opportunity.

Since late May, Penny sidelined with an upper back injury. For about a week, he has played catch every day, but the team has yet to schedule a bullpen session.

Penny told the press, “Just playing catch. No changed status for me, at all. I’ll be able to tell you something when I find out.”

Than Penny, who is 3-4 with a 3.23 ERA in nine starts, Manager Tony La Russa seemed more enthusiastic. In the MLB offseason, Penny signed a one-year, $7.5 million free agent contract and he is hungry to return to a rotation bolstered by the trade deadline acquisition of Jake Westbrook.

Penny said, “I hope so. I’ll do everything I can. But like I said, I’ve got to test it. It’s not like when you throw on flat ground, just regular catch.”

Against the Houston Astros, the opener of a three-game series was the 61st game that Penny has missed this season. Since late May, the Cardinals have also been without Kyle Lohse, filling in with Jeff Suppanand Blake Hawksworth.

Start coming off forearm surgery on Thursday, Lohse is set to throw his third rehab with Double-A Springfield and could return next week.Penny was definitely not being counted out the rest of the season, said La Russa.

La Russa said, “Yeah, he’s making noise. He’s feeling pretty good, but he’s a lot of steps away. He definitely isn’t done for the season, in his mind or in ours.”

Stay tuned for more information about Brad’s injury and how it may effect the St. Louis Cardinals baseball betting odds.

What is on your mind on Saturday, Aug. 7? You’ll probably be helping to set a new world record, if you’re a bowler.

Across the United States, more than 3,200 bowling centers will be teaming up that day to set a new, single-day record for most games played.

The record-setting attempt will be the culmination of the 2010 National Bowling Week, which kicks off on July 31, dubbed National Bowling Day. Bowlers can download a free game coupon and bowlers can download a free game coupon at www.gobowling.com, in an attempt to help break the record.

Strike Ten Entertainment (STE), the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America, the International Bowling Pro Shop and Instructors Association (IBPSIA) and the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) are the sponsors of the event and week.

The current record of 741,821 bowling games played in a single day, which was set last year; bowlers across America will make an attempt to break the same.

To break, the Bowling Proprietors’ Association of America was established. To bring together what was at the time a fragmented group of proprietors and as an attempt by a small group of bowling center owners revive their businesses, this association began.

The ATP summer hard court season of 2010, named as the Olympus US Open Series, officially kicked off by the Atlanta Tennis Championships. After nine years, once again Atlanta has the privilege to host some of the world’s best male tennis players.

There has already been plenty of action during the qualifying stages on the weekend, although Monday July 19 was the opening day of the Atlanta Tennis Championships. There were some doubles matches and only a few singles matches, on day one.

The Americans had a great start and won their first round matches in Atlanta, as Michael Russell, Rajeev Ram and Mardy Fish. Over Karol Beck, Ram won 6-4 7-6(4), Russell upset eight seed Benjamin Becker 6-3 6-3 and Fish took out James Ward 6-1 6-2. Ukranian Illya Marchenko and the German veteran Rainer Schuettler were the other first round winners.

On the doubles side, fellow Americans Ryan Sweeting and Robby Ginepri were taken out by James Blake and John Isner 3-6 6-4 10-3. The duo of Jonathan Erlich and Janko Tipsarevic knocked out top seeds Fleming and Skupski. Additionally, Kevin Anderson and Michael Russell defeated fourth seeded doubles team of Hutchins and Kerr. Overall, for the Americans on the singles and doubles sides, it was an excellent day.

First seed Andy Roddick is the focus of the tournament. There are expectations for Roddick to make a real impact in the hard court season leading to the US Open, after a disappointing early loss at the grass courts of Wimbledon. Roddick will face Rajeev Ram in the second round and he got a bye in the first round.

To this point, the first five stages of the Tour de France have been surprising and exciting and Mark Cavendish of Britain and Team HTC-Columbia capped off Stage 5 with a spectacular and emotional dash to the finish just 200 yards out from the line.

Every expert was doubting Cavendish could win a stage this year, although he won six stages last year. With a 23-second lead over Britain’s Geraint Thomas, Fabian Cancellara held tightly to his yellow jersey. Other notables after Stage 5, Alberto Contador, who is in ninth one minute 40 seconds off the lead and Lance Armstrong who is two minutes and 30 seconds back in 21st place.

In the Pyrenees l, both Tour de France champs will make their time up and neither is feeling any pressure for being off the pace at this point of the Tour De France. In 2010, Armstrong has already had an eventful Tour de France, crashing hard during Stage 2 but he did not receive any serious injuries aside from bumps and bruises.

From the moment the stages were announced, stage 3 was the stage all riders feared. For the first time in the Tour since 2003, stage 3 featured a cobblestone or pave’ section and none of the riders looked forward to it. Prop bets favorite, Frank Schleck was the first victim, as he fell hard in front of the peloton and broke his collarbone. Lance Armstrong fell victim to a flat tire from the rough conditions although he did not fall.

Tuesday, June 29, featured all of the ladies quarterfinal matches of the 2010 Wimbledon. Besides that, all other matches were doubles, mixed doubles, and juniors.

The headline of the day was when Tsvetana Pironkova of Bulgaria defeated second seed Venus Williams 6-2 6-3 on Court 1. This was the biggest upset of the tournament on the ladies draw. Venus’ shots landed everywhere but inside the court, as she had a total of 29 unforced errors, compared to Pirnokova’s 6. Pirnokova definitely had the confidence to win today’s match because she upset Venus Williams before at the first round of the 2006 Australian Open. Additionally, Pironkova became the first Bulgarian to reach the semifinals of a grand slam. Meanwhile, Serena Williams comfortably won her quarterfinal match on Centre Court against Li Na 7-5 6-3. The hope of seeing a Williams sister holding the championship trophy is still alive.

Another slight upset of the day was by #21 seed Vera Zvonareva, who defeated #8 seed Kim Clijsters 3-6 6-4 6-2. Clijsters played aggressively, as reflected by her 33 winners and 36 unforced errors. In the middle of the second set, the errors really hurt Clijsters as she let Zvonareva get back into the match. After the match, Clijsters said she was very disappointed and not too thrilled with her own level of play towards the end.

The most competitive quarterfinal match of the day was between Petra Kvitova and Kaia Kanepi. Most tennis fans are unfamiliar with these two unseeded players, who have never advanced past the second round of Wimbledon. The young Czech Kvitova won the nearly three hour battle 4-6 7-6(8) 8-6.

Day 3 and Day 4 of 2010 Wimbledon featured one of the most extraordinary matches in tennis history. The first round match between number 23 seed American John Isner and qualifier Frenchman Nicolas Mahut was one for the record books. It actually started on day 2 and was suspended after the completion of four sets. Day 3 was still not enough for the two warriors to complete their match and it was postponed again, tied at 59-59 in the fifth set. Finally, on Day 4 (Thursday), John Isner won the match 70-68 in the final set. This was a perfect example of what physical fitness and mental toughness in sports is all about.

The battle lasted fore just over 11 hours over the course of three days, and this became the longest match in tennis history. Isner and Mahut each served over 100 aces, which is another new record. The amount of games and points played were also record breaking. After the epic marathon match, there was a small ceremony to honor John Isner and Nicolas Mahut. No one could have imagined that the major headlines of 2010 Wimbledon and of the year would happen on court 18.

Day 4 featured another historic moment as the Queen of England visited Wimbledon for the first time since 1977. Wimbledon Champions Roger Federer and Serena Williams both greeted the Queen. She also enjoyed a great display on Centre Court from fellow Brit Andy Murray, who won his second round match in straight sets. Another interesting match on the men’s side was between Rafael Nadal and Robin Haase. Nadal was really challenged, but he eventually prevailed in the fifth set, wining it 6-3.
